Originally known as betandwin, Bwin launched its first online gambling site in 1998, shortly after being founded in Austria. It quickly made a mark by pioneering live betting and soon expanded into online casino and poker following its acquisition of Gibraltar-based Simon Bold and relocation to the British Overseas Territory.
In 2006, betandwin rebranded as Bwin and further distinguished itself by introducing live streaming of selected sports events. A significant merger with Party Gaming in 2011 established the company as the largest publicly traded online gaming firm. After years of global success, Bwin was acquired by British GVC Group in 2016 and remains one of the prominent brands under its parent company today.
