Support for Micah Parsons Grows Amid Trade Request

Several Dallas Cowboys players have publicly expressed their support for teammate Micah Parsons following his recent trade request. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb urged the Cowboys organization to compensate Parsons appropriately, posting on X, 'pay him what you owe em.' This social media statement reflects the growing sentiment among teammates regarding Parsons' value to the team.
In a notable gesture, at least three of Parsons' fellow players—cornerback Trevon Diggs, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, and safety Juanyeh Thomas—have altered their X avatars to show solidarity with the standout pass-rusher. Parsons had previously detailed his frustrations in a lengthy statement, indicating that he 'no longer' wishes to remain with the Cowboys. He noted that he had attempted several times to negotiate a new contract but felt his discussions with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones went unrecognized, as the organization failed to engage with his agent.
Despite Parsons' desire for a change of scenery, reports from The Athletic suggest that the Cowboys are not inclined to accommodate his trade request at this time. Parsons, who was selected 12th overall in the 2021 NFL draft from Penn State, has established himself as a premier talent in the league over his four seasons in Dallas. With notable accolades such as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2021, four Pro Bowl selections, and two First Team All-Pro honors, he is poised to be one of the most coveted trade assets should the Cowboys opt to make him available. Given his performance and youth, any acquiring team would need to be prepared to offer a salary reflective of his standing among the upper echelon of pass-rushers, comparable to players like T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns.
