Jerry Jones Confirms Dallas Cowboys Will Not Trade Micah Parsons Amid Contract Discussions

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the media on Saturday, confirming that the team does not intend to move linebacker Micah Parsons despite the player's recent trade request. In a video shared by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jones discussed the ongoing negotiations with Parsons.
Reports from earlier in the year indicated that the Cowboys had presented Parsons with a contract offer that would establish a new record for non-quarterback players. However, negotiations stalled due to the absence of Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, from discussions. Despite the situation, Jones expressed optimism regarding the relationship between the Cowboys and Parsons, reassuring fans that there is no need for concern at this time.
Parsons had publicly announced his trade request in a recent post on social media platform X, indicating that he had instructed Mulugheta to negotiate a contract extension with the team ahead of the 2024 season. However, he stated that the Cowboys had not initiated any negotiations at this point. Jones remarked on the trade request as a standard aspect of contract negotiations, citing his extensive experience within the league. He acknowledged that there had been no formal discussions with Parsons since the trade request was submitted. As Parsons prepares for the 2025 season, he is under a contract worth $24 million.
