Jerry Jones Addresses Micah Parsons Trade Request in Dallas

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the media on Saturday regarding linebacker Micah Parsons and his recent trade request. Despite the request, Jones stated that he is not considering moving Parsons, reaffirming his confidence in the team's relationship with the Pro Bowl player. The remarks came during a press conference shared by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
In April, reporter Clarence Hill of All City DLLS revealed that the Cowboys had proposed a record-setting contract for Parsons, aimed at securing a deal for the non-quarterback. However, discussions fell apart as Parsons' agent was not included in these negotiations. During the press conference, Jones urged fans not to react with concern to Parsons' trade request, indicating that it was a standard element of contract negotiations.
Parsons had previously announced his trade request via a post on X, expressing that he had instructed his agent, David Mulugheta, to pursue an extension with the Cowboys before the 2024 season. He noted that the organization was not prepared to initiate negotiations at that time. Parsons recalled a meeting with Jones in March, which he did not perceive as a formal negotiation discussion. According to Parsons, there has been no dialogue between the Cowboys and his agent regarding a new contract since that meeting. Jones, however, reassured reporters that such requests are commonplace and part of the negotiation process. He acknowledged that while the team and Parsons have yet to resume talks, the linebacker remains under contract. Parsons has consistently performed well, recording at least 12.0 sacks in each of his four seasons with the Cowboys, even amid a disrupted schedule in 2024. Currently, he is contracted for the 2025 season at $24 million.
