Dallas Cowboys Owner Addresses Micah Parsons Trade Request

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated on Saturday that the team does not intend to move linebacker Micah Parsons, despite the player's trade request. Jones shared his perspective with reporters regarding the ongoing negotiations with Parsons, emphasizing his confidence in the current relationship between the player and the franchise.
Reports emerged earlier this year indicating that the Cowboys had presented Parsons with a contract proposal that would set a record for a non-quarterback. However, those discussions reportedly stalled due to the absence of Parsons' agent in the negotiations. In light of Parsons' recent announcement on social media, in which he expressed his desire for an extension prior to the 2024 season, the situation has gained heightened attention.
During the conversation with reporters, Jones acknowledged the complexities often associated with contract negotiations, referencing his extensive experience in the NFL. He suggested that trade requests are a common aspect of such discussions and indicated that he had made a significant offer to Parsons, although the specifics of that offer remain undisclosed. Despite Parsons' request, Jones pointed out that he had not engaged in further dialogue with the linebacker since the announcement. Parsons, who has consistently recorded impressive statistics during his tenure with the Cowboys, is currently under contract for the 2025 season at a value of $24 million.
