NFL Players Approved for Flag Football at the 2028 Olympics

NFL players have received clearance to participate in flag football during the 2028 Summer Olympics. However, it appears that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may not take part in this inaugural Olympic event, according to comments from Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com.
The decision for NFL players to represent their country in the Olympic competition was unanimously approved by NFL owners during their spring meetings held in Minneapolis. While Mahomes has expressed some reservations about joining the Team USA flag football squad, it is understandable given the potential risks of injury as he continues his career with the Chiefs.
In Mahomes' absence, Team USA could consider other elite quarterbacks currently playing in the NFL. Notably, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who recently celebrated a Super Bowl victory, has shown interest in the opportunity. Hurts highlighted the honor of potentially representing his country and the significance of competing for a gold medal. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow also expressed enthusiasm over the possibility, acknowledging the logistical challenges but reiterating his desire to participate. As flag football approaches its Olympic debut, Hurts, Burrow, and other prominent players could be candidates to fill the roster.
