NFL Players Granted Clearance for Flag Football at the 2028 Summer Olympics

NFL players have received official clearance to participate in flag football when the sport debuts at the 2028 Summer Olympics. However, it appears that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may not be among the participants, according to comments relayed by Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com.
During their spring meetings in Minneapolis, NFL owners unanimously approved the participation of players in the Olympics. Mahomes has previously expressed reservations about joining the Team USA flag football roster, and his hesitance is understandable considering the potential risk of injury as he continues his NFL career.
While Mahomes may be stepping back from this opportunity, other elite quarterbacks in the league could be eager to step up. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and reigning Super Bowl champion Jalen Hurts has indicated his interest, highlighting the honor of potentially representing the United States. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has also expressed excitement about the opportunity, although he noted the challenges that might arise due to training camp obligations. As the 2028 Olympics approach, the field for Team USA flag football remains promising.
