Jerry Jones Confirms Micah Parsons Will Remain with the Cowboys Amid Trade Request

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the media on Saturday, confirming that the organization has no intentions of moving linebacker Micah Parsons despite his recent trade request. Jones shared insights during a press conference about the ongoing negotiations with Parsons, as captured in a video posted on social media by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Reports from All City DLLS indicated that the Cowboys had previously extended an offer to Parsons earlier this year, a contract proposal that was poised to set a record for non-quarterbacks. However, discussions stalled as Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, was not included in these negotiations. Despite this, Jones expressed a level of confidence in the relationship between Parsons and the Cowboys, reassuring fans that there is no immediate cause for concern. ‘I would say to our fans, don’t lose any sleep over this,’ he stated.
Parsons, a standout performer for the Cowboys, revealed on social media that he formally requested a trade from the organization. In his post, he indicated that he had directed his agent to pursue a contract extension ahead of the 2024 season, only to find that the team was not prepared to engage in any discussions at that juncture. He noted that his previous conversation with Jones regarding his contract in March did not constitute a formal negotiation. Jones responded to queries regarding the trade request and emphasized that such demands are not unusual in the negotiation landscape. He also alluded to prior discussions with Parsons while refraining from providing specific details regarding offers made, stating that they were more substantial than the public could appreciate. Though Jones mentioned that he sees Parsons' trade request as part of the negotiation process, he acknowledged that he had not had any direct communication with the linebacker since the request was made.
