Micah Parsons Requests Trade: Support from Cowboys Teammates

Multiple players from the Dallas Cowboys organization have expressed their support for teammate Micah Parsons following his trade request posted publicly on social media. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb urged the Cowboys to compensate Parsons appropriately for his contributions, stating in a recent post on X that the organization should 'pay em what you owe em.' Additionally, at least three of Parsons' teammates, including cornerback Trevon Diggs, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, and safety Juanyeh Thomas, modified their X avatars to feature a photo of the pass-rusher.
Parsons announced his trade request on Friday, detailing a lengthy statement on X where he conveyed his feelings about his current situation with the Cowboys. The 26-year-old expressed dissatisfaction with the organization's efforts, stating that he has attempted to negotiate a new contract on multiple occasions but felt that communication had stalled. According to Parsons, informal discussions with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did not yield any follow-up from the organization to his agent, leading to his decision to request a trade.
Despite Parsons' desire to part ways with the team, reports from The Athletic's Dianna Russini indicate that the Cowboys maintain no intention of fulfilling his trade request. Nevertheless, interest from other teams is expected as Parsons is recognized as one of the premier pass-rushers in the league. Drafted as the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State, Parsons has made a significant impact during his four-year career, earning accolades such as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2021, four Pro Bowl selections, and two First Team All-Pro honors. His remarkable consistency is evident with 12 sacks in each of his first four seasons, a feat matched only by Hall of Famer Reggie White. The Cowboys have recently invested heavily in contracts for several core players, yet the lack of progress on Parsons’ contract could signal the potential end of his tenure in Dallas.
