Hornets Claim 2025 Vegas Summer League Championship

The Charlotte Hornets have emerged as the 2025 Vegas Summer League champions after defeating the Sacramento Kings 83-78 in a closely contested championship game. Standout performance was delivered by Kon Knueppel, who earned MVP honors by contributing 21 points and five rebounds in the decisive matchup.
Support for the Hornets came from Ryan Kalkbrenner, who added 15 points and nine rebounds. Conversely, the Kings saw a dominant performance from Isaac Jones, who recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds. Devin Carter also made a significant contribution for Sacramento, totaling 13 points and seven assists. Notably, Jones had an impressive semifinal performance against the Toronto Raptors, scoring 36 points. However, he was unable to replicate that level of success in the finals, as the Kings struggled throughout the game, shooting just 36.5 percent from the field and 20.6 percent from three.
Knueppel's performance, though not without its flaws—shooting 8-of-21—was pivotal for the Hornets. The team maintained control for most of the game, leading by 11 points heading into the fourth quarter. Despite the Kings mounting a late comeback to shrink the deficit to three points with under five minutes remaining, they could not fully bridge the gap. A series of significant three-pointers from both Knueppel and Jones in the final minute showcased the intensity of the contest. Ultimately, the Hornets successfully secured the Vegas Summer League title.
