Charlotte Hornets Capture 2025 Vegas Summer League Championship

The Charlotte Hornets emerged as the 2025 Vegas Summer League champions following their victory over the Sacramento Kings, winning the championship contest with a final score of 83-78. Kon Knueppel, who delivered an impressive performance, was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game after scoring 21 points and securing five rebounds.
The Hornets received significant contributions from Ryan Kalkbrenner, who recorded 15 points and nine rebounds. On the opposing side, Isaac Jones was a standout for the Kings, posting 24 points and 11 rebounds. Devin Carter also played a crucial role for Sacramento, adding 13 points and seven assists. Notably, Jones displayed exceptional form in the semifinals against the Toronto Raptors, where he tallied 36 points, although he was unable to replicate that success in the championship.
The Kings struggled with their shooting throughout the game, finishing with a field goal percentage of only 36.5% (31-of-85) and making just 20.6% of their three-point attempts (7-of-34). In contrast, the Hornets demonstrated effective play, especially from their top draft picks, Knueppel and Kalkbrenner. While Knueppel was not at peak shooting efficiency, going 8-of-21 from the field, he still proved to be the key player for Charlotte. The Hornets maintained control for much of the matchup, leading by 11 points at the end of the third quarter before the Kings mounted a late challenge, narrowing the deficit to three points with under five minutes remaining. Despite strong late-game efforts, including successive three-pointers by Knueppel and Jones, Sacramento could not close the gap, allowing the Hornets to secure the Summer League title.
