Charlotte Hornets Crowned 2025 Vegas Summer League Champions

The Charlotte Hornets have emerged as the champions of the 2025 Vegas Summer League, securing a narrow 83-78 victory over the Sacramento Kings in the championship game held on Sunday night. Kon Knueppel, who was instrumental in the Hornets' success, earned MVP honors by contributing 21 points and five rebounds during the title contest. His performance was pivotal in guiding Charlotte to this memorable victory.
Alongside Knueppel, Ryan Kalkbrenner made significant contributions for the Hornets, finishing the game with 15 points and nine rebounds. On the opposing team, Sacramento's Isaac Jones had a standout performance, scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, showcasing his aggressive play. Devin Carter also put forth a noteworthy effort for the Kings with 13 points and seven assists. Jones had previously delivered an exceptional performance during Sacramento’s semifinal matchup against the Toronto Raptors, where he netted 36 points, elevating expectations for his play in the finals.
Despite the Kings' strong individual performances, the team struggled collectively, shooting only 36.5 percent from the field and 20.6 percent from three-point range. The Hornets maintained control for a significant portion of the game, holding an 11-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Although the Kings made a determined effort to close the gap, reducing the margin to three points with under five minutes remaining, they were unable to complete the comeback. In the closing moments, both Knueppel and Jones showcased their skills by sinking crucial three-pointers, but the Kings ultimately could not surpass the Hornets, leading to Charlotte’s well-deserved Vegas Summer League championship.
