Mikal Bridges Signs Four-Year Contract Extension with Knicks

The New York Knicks have reached an agreement with wing Mikal Bridges on a four-year contract extension valued at $150 million, as confirmed by agents Sam Goldfeder and Jordan Gertler. The deal also includes a player option for the 2029-30 season and features a trade kicker.
Despite speculation from some NBA executives that Bridges might elect to play the upcoming season under an expiring contract in hopes of securing a deal closer to $200 million in the next offseason, the Knicks have committed to a long-term vision with Bridges. This contract follows reports from Frank Isola of SiriusXM NBA Radio that indicated Bridges had been part of trade discussions earlier in June. The Knicks acquired Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets on June 25, 2024, in exchange for a significant number of draft picks. This move united Bridges with fellow former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart.
During the 2023-24 season, Bridges was a critical contributor for the Nets, averaging 19.6 points on 43.6 percent shooting and contributing in key areas with 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. His defensive capabilities were particularly valuable to the Knicks, known for their gritty playstyle. In the following 2024-25 season, Bridges maintained strong form, averaging 17.6 points on 50.0 percent shooting, playing a significant role in leading New York to the Eastern Conference Finals, the team's first appearance in that round since 2000. His durability is noteworthy; Bridges has never missed a game in his seven-year career, averaging 35.8 minutes per game over the past three seasons.
