Jeremy Lin Announces Retirement: A Journey Through 'Linsanity' to Legacy

Former NBA Star Jeremy Lin Announces Retirement
Former NBA point guard Jeremy Lin has officially announced his retirement from professional basketball in a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday. Lin, best known for his breakout performance during the 2011-12 NBA season with the New York Knicks, reflected on his 15-year career, stating, "As athletes, we are always aware that the possibility of retirement is never far away. I've spent my 15 year career knowing that one day I would have to walk away, and yet actually saying goodbye to basketball today has been the hardest decision I've ever made."
A Career Highlighted by 'Linsanity'
Lin's NBA journey began as an undrafted free agent with the Golden State Warriors in the 2010-11 season, where he made 29 appearances as a reserve. However, it was his subsequent move to the New York Knicks in December 2011, filling in for injured guard Iman Shumpert, that catapulted him into the spotlight. Lin's remarkable performance averaged 23.8 points and 9.4 assists per game during his first six starts, leading to the phenomenon known as 'Linsanity.' His impressive averages for the season rounded out at 18.2 points and 7.7 assists per game.
After his breakout year, Lin signed with the Houston Rockets but faced challenges that prevented him from replicating his initial success. Over the years, he played for several teams, ultimately finishing his NBA career with a championship title won with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
Post-NBA, Lin ventured internationally, playing in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and later joining the New Taipei Kings in Taiwan. Throughout his career, he maintained averages of 11.6 points, 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.
While stepping away from the court, Lin leaves behind a lasting legacy marked by resilience and inspiration, showcasing that dreams can indeed come true with hard work and determination.
