Jalen Greens Farewell to Houston Rockets

In a heartfelt letter published in The Players' Tribune, Jalen Green expressed his gratitude towards the Houston Rockets, the franchise that has been the foundation of his professional career. Although he shared fond memories and appreciation for the organization, Green also made it clear that he would not hold back when facing his former team in the upcoming season with the Phoenix Suns.
Drafted by the Rockets as the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Green began his career in Houston with strong performances, including a standout season last year where he averaged 21 points per game. However, the franchise made the decision to trade him—along with Dillon Brooks and several draft picks—to the Suns in exchange for superstar Kevin Durant. While Green acknowledged the sadness of leaving Houston, he conveyed an understanding of the business aspects behind the trade, stating, 'This is a business, and if I was up there in the executive chair, I probably would’ve made the deal, too.'
Looking ahead to his new chapter with the Suns, Green expressed enthusiasm about joining forces with Devin Booker and is eager to contribute to establishing a winning culture in Phoenix, a goal he previously experienced with the Rockets. As the Suns prepare to face the Rockets in their next matchup, it is evident that Green will be ready to demonstrate his skills and competitive spirit.
