Browns Rookie QB Shedeur Sanders Shines in Preseason Debut Despite Depth Chart Position

Shedeur Sanders Impresses in First Game as a Cleveland Brown
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders showcased his potential in an impressive preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers. Despite his strong performance, which included completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, Sanders remains the fourth quarterback on the depth chart as the team prepares for their next game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns have maintained their Week 2 preseason depth chart with Sanders trailing behind experienced quarterbacks Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel. With Flacco and Pickett resting for the upcoming matchup, Sanders has been given the opportunity to start following a series of injuries that have affected his competition.
In Friday's game, Sanders not only showed his passing ability but also rushed for 19 yards, helping the Browns secure a 30-10 victory. After the game, Sanders reflected on his performance, stating, "I'm comfortable with being uncomfortable, so that's what it is. I got pockets of finding my rhythm, and I got to get into that quicker." He credited his success to the offensive line and playcalling, emphasizing his need to continue developing.
While Sanders impressed in his debut, it is clear the Cleveland Browns are not pushing him too fast in his rookie season. With Flacco handling most of the first-team reps during training camp, Sanders will have another opportunity to demonstrate his skills against Philadelphia this weekend.
