Scottie Schefflers Passion for the Cowboys and Quest for a Career Grand Slam

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler recently expressed his deep-rooted support for the Dallas Cowboys, stating he would be willing to forfeit one of his major tournament victories to see the team win another Super Bowl. During his appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast, Scheffler articulated his strong desire for the Cowboys' success, reflecting on both his personal connection to the team and his aspirations as a professional golfer.
Originally from Ridgewood, New Jersey, Scheffler grew up in Dallas, where he developed his passion for both golf and football. With four major titles to his name—including a recent victory at the 2025 Open Championship—Scheffler is aiming for a remarkable achievement: winning the U.S. Open to complete his career Grand Slam. Despite his professional accolades, his loyalty to the Cowboys remains evident, as he noted that he would gladly trade one of his major victories for another Super Bowl win for the franchise.
The Cowboys boast a rich history, with five Super Bowl victories to their credit. However, their most recent championship trophy was secured in 1996, just months before Scheffler was born. Since that time, the team has struggled to make significant playoff advancements, failing to progress beyond the divisional round in their 13 postseason appearances following their last Super Bowl appearance. As the Cowboys head into the 2025 season, they once again harbor playoff aspirations under the guidance of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. A critical focus for the team will be ensuring the health of key players, including Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs, who collectively missed 21 games during the previous season. With hopes high for a return to the playoffs—a pursuit that would mark their fourth postseason berth in five years—Scheffler will undoubtedly remain an avid supporter of his hometown team.
