Scottie Schefflers Passion for the Cowboys: A Trade of Majors for a Super Bowl

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler expressed a willingness to sacrifice one of his major championship titles for the opportunity to witness the Dallas Cowboys secure another Super Bowl victory. During a recent appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast, Scheffler stated, 'I would trade one [major] for sure for a [Cowboys] Super Bowl.'
Born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, but raised in Dallas, Scheffler has established himself as a prominent figure in professional golf, having secured four major titles, including the 2025 Open Championship. At 29 years old, he aims to clinch the U.S. Open, which would make him the seventh player in history to achieve a career Grand Slam. Despite his individual success in golf, Scheffler's deep-rooted loyalty to the Cowboys is evident in his readiness to exchange one of his titles for a Super Bowl ring.
The Cowboys, a franchise with a storied history that includes five Super Bowl championships, last lifted the Lombardi Trophy approximately five months before Scheffler's birth. Since then, the team has faced challenges in advancing deep into the playoffs, having not moved beyond the divisional round in their 13 postseason appearances since their most recent Super Bowl win. As the Cowboys approach the 2025 season with renewed playoff aspirations under the guidance of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, they hope to achieve greater health among key players such as Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs, all of whom collectively missed 21 games in the 2024 season. Scheffler's investment in the performance of his hometown team remains steadfast as they strive to return to the postseason for the fourth time in five years.
