Merrill Reese Receives Special Gift from Jalen Hurts

Merrill Reese, the radio announcer for the Philadelphia Eagles, recently showcased a unique gift he received from star quarterback Jalen Hurts. During a Wednesday appearance on The National Football Show with Dan Sileo, Reese displayed a pair of signed cleats from Hurts, which featured a heartfelt message directed toward him.
The message on the cleats reads, "To: M. Reese, you saw it when no one else could... Love Always." This gesture highlights the bond between Reese and Hurts, particularly considering Hurts' journey in the NFL. When Hurts entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2020 draft, he was not immediately viewed as a guaranteed superstar, serving primarily as a backup to Carson Wentz during his rookie season.
However, Hurts demonstrated significant promise as a starter in his second year, showcasing his dual-threat capabilities. In the 2022 season, he earned his first Pro Bowl selection by throwing for 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns while only throwing five interceptions and completing 68.7 percent of his passes. Hurts also recorded 630 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. His impressive efforts led the Eagles to clinch the NFC East title with a 14-3 record and culminated in a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs to secure the Lombardi Trophy, for which Hurts was awarded Super Bowl MVP honors. As he prepares for the 2025 season and aims to defend the championship, Hurts continues to express his gratitude toward Reese for the support he has provided throughout his career.
