Merrill Reese Receives Signed Cleats from Jalen Hurts

Merrill Reese, the radio announcer for the Philadelphia Eagles, recently showcased a gifted pair of signed cleats from star quarterback Jalen Hurts during an appearance on The National Football Show with Dan Sileo. In a notable moment, Reese revealed the cleats, which featured a handwritten message from Hurts: 'To: M. Reese, you saw it when no one else could... Love Always.'
When Hurts first entered the NFL, he was not immediately recognized as a guaranteed superstar. Selected by the Eagles as the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 draft, he spent the majority of his rookie season as a backup to Carson Wentz. However, his second year proved pivotal, as he demonstrated his dual-threat capabilities, leading to a successful campaign and earning his first Pro Bowl selection in 2022.
In the most recent 2024 season, Hurts excelled, completing 68.7 percent of his passes for a total of 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns against just five interceptions. Additionally, he showcased his running ability with 630 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Under Hurts' leadership, the Eagles secured the NFC East title with a 14-3 record and triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Lombardi Trophy, with Hurts being named Super Bowl MVP. As he gears up for the 2025 season, Hurts continues to express gratitude to figures like Reese who have supported him throughout his NFL journey.
