Malik Nabers Continues Rehabilitation, Giants Focus on Health Ahead of Training Camp

Malik Nabers, the wide receiver for the New York Giants, is still recovering from a toe injury that impacted his performance during the previous season. As reported by Jordan Raanan from ESPN, Giants head coach Brian Daboll indicated that Nabers would have a limited role in the team's organized team activities (OTAs) as he continues his rehabilitation. The Giants are prioritizing Nabers' recovery to ensure he is in top form for training camp.
After an impressive collegiate career at LSU, Nabers was selected sixth overall by the Giants in the 2024 NFL Draft. He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, starting 13 of the 15 games in which he played. Nabers recorded 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns, achievements that earned him a fifth-place finish in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year voting, as well as a selection to the Pro Bowl. However, his season was marred by injuries; Nabers missed two games due to a concussion and faced challenges throughout the year that limited his practice availability.
Despite the adversity, Nabers put up significant numbers against a backdrop of one of the league's most challenging quarterback situations. The Giants' passing game struggled overall, finishing the season with only 3,228 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Daniel Jones began the season as the starter but faced difficulties, leading to his benching and eventual release. Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito also took turns at quarterback, yet the performance remained subpar. Entering the offseason, the Giants have revamped their quarterback lineup by signing veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and they traded back into the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick. The expectation is that the new quarterbacks will provide a marked improvement over last year's struggles, which could offer Nabers and the rest of the receiving corps more opportunities to excel. Following a notable playoff appearance in 2022 with a 9-7-1 record, the Giants have experienced a decline in performance, finishing 6-11 in 2023 and 3-14 last season. Although the team is not anticipated to contest for a playoff position in 2025, Nabers remains a key asset as they aim to revitalize their offense, and his health will be crucial for the Giants’ prospects this coming season.
