Malik Nabers Continues Rehabilitation as Giants Look to Future

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is currently recovering from a toe injury that impacted his performance during the previous season. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Giants head coach Brian Daboll stated that Nabers would have a limited presence at OTAs as he continues his rehabilitation process. The organization is prioritizing his recovery to ensure he is fully healthy for training camp.
Nabers, who had an impressive collegiate career at LSU, was selected sixth overall by the Giants in the 2024 NFL Draft. His rookie season proved to be fruitful, as he started 13 of the 15 games in which he participated, totaling 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. His performance earned him a fifth-place finish in the voting for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and a selection to the Pro Bowl. Despite dealing with injuries, including missing two games due to a concussion, Nabers stood out even amid challenging circumstances, notably one of the difficult quarterback situations in the league.
In the 2023 season, the Giants saw a significant change in their quarterback lineup after Daniel Jones struggled and was subsequently benched and released. Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito took over the starting roles, yet the team struggled with quarterback production. Overall, the Giants recorded just 3,228 passing yards, with only 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, and Nabers accounted for a significant portion of the team’s receiving yardage and touchdowns. This offseason, the Giants revamped their quarterback room by signing both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and they traded back into the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 overall pick. While expectations for the Giants to compete for a playoff spot in 2025 may be tempered, the potential of a healthy Nabers combined with new quarterback stability provides hope for an improved offensive performance.
