Jayden Daniels Sets Rushing Record Among Rookie Quarterbacks

In a notable performance during the game against the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels surpassed former player Robert Griffin III to establish a new record for the most rushing yards by a rookie quarterback in NFL history. Daniels achieved this milestone with a seven-yard run in the fourth quarter, bringing his total rushing yards to 820, while Griffin III had previously set the record with 815 rushing yards during his 2012 season.
Robert Griffin III's record was set during a remarkable campaign that earned him the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year accolade. That year, he led Washington to an NFC East Division title with a 9-6 record, completing an impressive 65.6 percent of his passes. In addition to surpassing Griffin III, Jayden Daniels also moved ahead of Kirk Cousins in the franchise record books for the second most combined passing and rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season, totaling 4,281 yards compared to Cousins' 4,272 yards from his 2017 season.
Prior to the season, Daniels had openly expressed his ambition to join the ranks of elite rushing quarterbacks in the league, mentioning names like Lamar Jackson and former No. 1 pick Michael Vick. He has previously showcased his capabilities at LSU, where he recorded an impressive 1,134 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in his final season. Daniels' ability to adapt and succeed in the NFL has made him a player to watch as he continues to make his mark in the league.
