Cowboys Players Show Support for Micah Parsons Amid Trade Request

Multiple players from the Dallas Cowboys have rallied around teammate Micah Parsons following his public trade request made on Friday. Notably, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb voiced his support on social media, urging the organization to compensate Parsons appropriately for his contributions. Additionally, reports indicated that at least three of Parsons' teammates — cornerback Trevon Diggs, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, and safety Juanyeh Thomas — changed their profile pictures on social media to images of Parsons, signifying solidarity with the pass-rushing standout.
In a detailed statement shared on social media, Parsons expressed his desire to leave the Cowboys, stating that he 'no longer want[s] to be here.' He explained his efforts to negotiate a new contract with the team, claiming that his attempts were met with silence from the Cowboys' management after some informal discussions with owner Jerry Jones. Despite Parsons' expressed intentions, sources indicate that the Cowboys have no plans to accommodate his request to be traded, suggesting that this situation will remain dynamic as other teams may still reach out to inquire about his availability.
Drafted as the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State, Parsons has spent his entire four-year career with the Cowboys, quickly establishing himself as a premier talent in the league. Achievements such as winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2021, receiving four Pro Bowl selections, and being honored with two First Team All-Pro selections underscore his impactful presence on the field. Although injuries limited him to 13 games last season, Parsons showcased his prowess by recording 12 sacks, making him one of only two players in NFL history to achieve double-digit sacks in each of their first four seasons — alongside Hall of Famer Reggie White. Given Parsons' remarkable blend of athleticism and youth, he is likely to be viewed as a highly attractive trade option. Should the Cowboys reconsider their stance on Parsons, any potential acquiring team would need to be prepared to offer him a contract reflective of his status among the elite pass-rushers in the league, akin to deals given to players like T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns. The Cowboys have recently allocated substantial contracts to various key players, including Lamb, Diggs, quarterback Dak Prescott, offensive tackle Terence Steele, tight end Jake Ferguson, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa. Yet, the stagnant negotiations concerning Parsons may indicate a turning point in his career with the Cowboys.
