Denver Broncos and Courtland Sutton Agree to Contract Extension

The Denver Broncos have reached an agreement with wide receiver Courtland Sutton on a four-year contract extension valued at $92 million, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Sutton, now 29 years old, has devoted his entire seven-year career to the Broncos, having been selected by the team as a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after an impressive stint at Southern Methodist University (SMU).
Sutton's performance has seen notable improvement in recent seasons. In 2023, he achieved a career-high of 10 touchdowns, complemented by 59 receptions for 772 receiving yards. The following year, 2024, saw Sutton reach career milestones in both receptions (81) and receiving yards (1,081), along with securing eight additional touchdowns. His exceptional play last season established a solid connection with rookie quarterback Bo Nix, contributing to the Broncos' ranking as the NFL's No. 10 scoring offense. Sutton led the Broncos in several key offensive categories, including receptions, receiving yards, yards from scrimmage, and touchdowns.
As the Broncos entered the 2025 offseason, Sutton had just one year remaining on the four-year, $60 million extension initially signed in 2021. His contributions were pivotal, as Denver advanced to the playoffs for the first time in nine years, largely attributable to Sutton's efforts. In April 2025, Sutton expressed optimism regarding contract extension discussions in an interview with Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post, stating that talks were progressing positively and that he hoped to remain with the organization for the entirety of his career. However, as training camp approached in July, Sutton had yet to secure a new deal, although he continued to participate with the team. Recognizing his vital role, the Broncos were eager to retain Sutton as they aim to enhance their performance in the second year under the Nix regime.
