Cleveland Browns Introduce New Alternate Helmet: The Alpha Dawg'

The Cleveland Browns have unveiled their new alternate helmet, marking a significant moment in franchise history. The announcement was made through a video featuring the tagline, 'a new look up top, molded by hardened toughness.' Leading up to the reveal, the team generated excitement with a promotional video and a collaboration with The Pat McAfee Show.
This all-brown alternate helmet, named 'Alpha Dawg,' is designed to be worn with the Browns' corresponding all-brown jersey combination. It features a matte brown shell, adorned with two orange stripes and a matching brown facemask, making it the first time the franchise has introduced a helmet of this color. The Browns are set to sport the 'Alpha Dawg' helmet during their home games against the Green Bay Packers on September 21, the Miami Dolphins on October 19, and the Tennessee Titans on December 7. This helmet becomes the third in the team's roster, joining their white alternate helmet.
The NFL modified its uniform policy in 2022 to allow teams to utilize a third helmet, provided it aligns with authorized uniform specifications. Notably, Dave DeNatale of WKYC Cleveland highlighted that the team stoked anticipation ahead of the helmet's debut with a large circular object shrouded in a Browns tarp, positioned on a raft in the water. The timing of this release conveniently coincided with the start of training camp. As the Browns prepare to don their new helmets, a question looms regarding their starting quarterback. With Deshaun Watson currently sidelined by injury, the competition appears to be between Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. The team's decision to select two rookies in the middle rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft has raised eyebrows, but they will need to outperform veteran Flacco to secure a starting role. Following a challenging 3-14 season, the forthcoming starting quarterback will face immediate pressure to help shift the team's fortunes, particularly starting with a tough opening matchup against Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals on September 7.
