Aaron Rodgers Rules Out NFL Teams for 2025 Season

Aaron Rodgers, the four-time NFL MVP, remains noncommittal about his playing plans for the 2025 season. However, during an event in Texas, he did clarify which teams he would not consider joining. When approached by a New Orleans Saints fan, Rodgers firmly stated 'no' regarding any potential interest in the team, even humorously adding that he is 'too old' to live in Louisiana.
This declaration adds to his previous remarks at the same event where he ruled out the Chicago Bears as a future destination. Despite dismissing these two teams, Rodgers provided insight into his potential future by hinting at 'a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip.' Observers quickly recognized that the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are awaiting Rodgers' decision, are scheduled to play at Soldier Field on November 23.
The Saints, having recently endured a tumultuous offseason marked by Derek Carr's unexpected retirement announcement, would certainly have been within their rights to reach out to Rodgers' agents regarding his interest. Although New Orleans did select quarterback Tyler Shough in the second round of the 2025 draft, concerns linger about his capacity to emerge as a reliable starter. While Rodgers' current capabilities may also raise questions, he may still present the best option for a struggling team like the Saints. However, Rodgers has reportedly expressed he is only interested in joining a team he believes has a legitimate shot at contending for a Super Bowl, and with the Saints coming off a disappointing 5-12 record last season, they appear distant from that status in the NFC.
