The Oklahoma City Thunder have established themselves as one of the top teams in the NBA, boasting an impressive record of 9-2 as of early November. Recently, they created additional excitement among fans by unveiling their City Edition uniforms for the 2024-25 season. These uniforms are set to make their debut during a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks this upcoming Sunday.
According to a press release issued by the team, the design of the City Edition uniforms reflects a two-year narrative focused on Oklahoma City's evolving landscape, growth, and momentum. Brian Byrnes, the Thunder's senior vice president of Business Operations, emphasized that the 2024-25 City Edition Uniform serves as a representation of Oklahoma City's unique cultural renaissance, inspired by the optimism held by the community. The jersey features the name 'Oklahoma' prominently on the front, marking it as only the second Thunder uniform in franchise history to do so, symbolizing a sense of unity. Additionally, the beltline of the uniform includes an outline of the state of Oklahoma.
In conjunction with the new uniforms, the Thunder plans to introduce a City Edition court for the City Nights games. Following the contest against the Mavericks, each Sunday home game will be designated as a City Nights event. The Thunder’s strong performance throughout the season, including a recent victory over the Los Angeles Clippers where star point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander achieved a career-high 45 points, sets an encouraging tone as they prepare for their next game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
