Draymond Green Aims for Historic NBA Milestone as Defensive Star

Draymond Green Sets His Sights on an Elite NBA Record
Golden State Warriors' star Draymond Green is not just known for his fiery play on the court; he's also driven by the possibility of making history. According to an article by The Athletic, Green has been informed by longtime Warriors media relations person, Raymond Ridder, about a prestigious accolade awaiting him. If he earns one more selection, Green can join the ranks of legends Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Scottie Pippen, all of whom have been named to 10 NBA All-Defensive teams.
Green achieved his ninth All-Defensive nomination at the conclusion of the last season, and he is now laser-focused on reaching that impressive milestone. "You see a list like that, and that immediately becomes your 'why,'" Green stated while speaking with Amick. He expressed a deep desire to be recognized among such esteemed names, stating, "It's captivating. If I'm honest, it consumes you."
For Green, this ambition goes beyond personal accolades—it's also about setting an example for the younger generation. He noted, "That's one stamp that I would love to add, for no other reason than the little kid from Saginaw being able to one day look at that list and say, 'Damn, my name is on the list with those guys.'" This goal has become a significant driving force in his career.
Now in his 14th season, Green shows no signs of slowing down. However, he is aware that there are rising defensive stars like San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama who could stand in his way for those coveted first- or second-team selections. But true to his competitive spirit, Green remains undeterred by the potential competition. He shared, "My body feels better and better every year. I've learned more about my body and what I need to do. I still enjoy competing at the highest level. I still enjoy setting this goal and then going through the process and trying to reach it."
