In the wake of reports indicating that the Sacramento Kings are open to trading star point guard De'Aaron Fox, various teams have promptly initiated their interest in acquiring the talented guard. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Kings have fielded dozens of calls regarding Fox in a span of just over seven hours.

Fox, who has one year remaining on his contract, is set to earn $37.1 million for the 2025-26 season. He notably declined a lucrative three-year, $165 million maximum extension from the Kings before the current season commenced. As he is eligible for a four-year, $229 million maximum extension next summer, his future continues to garner significant attention. Should he receive selection to an All-NBA team this year, he could also opt for a five-year, $345 million supermax deal.

Charania emphasized that any franchise pursuing Fox would seek clarity on his willingness to sign an extension beyond his existing contract. As he engages with potential suitors, the ability to secure Fox long-term is likely to be a crucial consideration. Among the teams expressing interest, the San Antonio Spurs have emerged as a preferred destination for the 27-year-old player. Having been drafted fifth overall in 2017, Fox has spent his entire eight-year NBA career with the Kings. This season, he has been a standout performer, leading the team with averages of 25.2 points and 1.5 steals per game, while also contributing 5.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists. Despite his individual achievements, the Kings currently rank 10th in the Western Conference with a 24-22 record, having recently parted ways with head coach Mike Brown due to a slow start to the season. Under the guidance of interim head coach Doug Christie, Sacramento has turned its fortunes around, winning 11 of their last 15 games. With the February 6 trade deadline approaching, teams will need to act swiftly if they aim to persuade the Kings to part with their key homegrown talent.
