Chris Olave Ruled Out After Concusssion in Saints vs Panthers Matchup

The New Orleans Saints have ruled out wide receiver Chris Olave for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers after he suffered a concussion due to an illegal hit over the middle of the field. The situation unfolded at Bank of America Stadium, where Olave was attended to on the field following the impact from Panthers safety Xavier Woods.
Olave remained still on the ground for an extended period following the blow and appeared to be unconscious momentarily. According to the team, he has since exhibited movement in all extremities and is undergoing further evaluation at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Fortunately, he was discharged from the hospital and is expected to return to New Orleans with the team later in the evening.
Woods was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play, highlighting the severity of the hit. While being stretchered off the field, Olave did manage to move his arms and acknowledge those around him. His brother later provided an update, indicating that Olave was awake and active. The incident resulted in former teammate Michael Thomas publicly expressing criticism towards quarterback Derek Carr for throwing into double coverage, which led to Olave's injury. This season has been challenging for Olave, who has experienced multiple concussions both in college and in the NFL, raising concerns about his health moving forward.
