Victor Wembanyama Makes Acting Debut in Futurama as Basketball Alien

Victor Wembanyama's Exciting New Role
San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama has stepped into the world of acting with his debut in the animated series Futurama. The 10th season, which premiered on Hulu on Monday, features Wembanyama voicing a unique character named Victor Wem-ben-yum-yum, a basketball-playing alien.
A Fun Encounter with Bender
In this episode, Wembanyama engages in a conversation with the iconic robot, Bender, where he humorously attempts to argue that height isn't everything. The collaboration was first revealed by Futurama showrunner David X. Cohen during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July.
Basketball's Place in Futurama
The series has a history of incorporating basketball, previously featuring the Harlem Globetrotters in multiple episodes since its inception in 2001. This marks Wembanyama's first venture into acting, although he has appeared in various documentaries focusing on his basketball career, including Netflix's Court of Gold, which covers the 2024 Olympic men's basketball tournament.
Wembanyama's Busy Fall
This cameo signals a busy fall for the 21-year-old as he prepares for the upcoming NBA season. Earlier this year, the Spurs announced that Wembanyama has been cleared to return from a blood clot that cut his previous season short. The Spurs are set to open training camp on September 29, with their regular season tip-off against the Dallas Mavericks on October 22, where Wembanyama will face off against fellow prospect Cooper Flagg, the 2025 No. 1 overall pick.
