Travis Kelce Sees Electric Atmosphere as Chiefs Rebound in 2024 Season

Chiefs Tight End Highlights Improved Energy at Arrowhead Stadium
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has noted a significant improvement in the vibes at Arrowhead Stadium since last February’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. On the most recent episode of his 'New Heights' podcast, alongside Jason Kelce, he expressed, "The energy in the building feels a lot more electric. It feels like we're moving at a pace that we weren't moving at last year. It's honestly because we're scoring touchdowns."
The Chiefs enhanced their receiving corps during the offseason, re-signing players like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Hollywood Brown, while also acquiring Tyquan Thornton. This bolstered group now supports quarterback Patrick Mahomes, alongside Kelce, Rashee Rice, and second-year wideout Xavier Worthy. After both Brown and Rice dealt with injuries for much of the 2024 season, the return of Rice from suspension has allowed the Chiefs to have a fully stocked receiving room for the first time in over a year.
Mahomes has capitalized on this depth, throwing 17 passing touchdowns through Week 8, tying him with the Los Angeles Rams' Matthew Stafford for the most in the NFL. Kelce commented on the balanced distribution of targets among the team, stating, "I think, when everybody's getting a piece of the pie like this— there's a lot of focus on me, and obviously Rashee, and you've got one of the fastest guys in the league, Xavier. And then Hollywood is a big play waiting to be made, and Tyquan is out here making big plays early on, and then all of a sudden Ju-Ju's wide-ass f--king open in the middle of the field because you forgot about him."
This season, Kelce has bounced back from a career-low 8.5 yards per catch last season, now averaging 12.8 yards per reception. He is coming off his most productive game this season, recording six receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' Week 8 victory over the Washington Commanders.
Looking ahead, the Chiefs aim to keep their momentum going as they prepare for a Sunday night road matchup against the Buffalo Bills, scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET at Highmark Stadium.
