In a move that solidifies his status as one of the league's elite defensive players, Aidan Hutchinson has finalized a lucrative four-year contract with the Detroit Lions, announced by his agent Mike McCartney. The deal, worth a staggering $180 million, includes $141 million in guarantees—the highest ever offered to a non-quarterback.

A Rising Star for the Lions

Since being selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Hutchinson has exceeded expectations on the field. Over 39 games spanning the past three seasons, he has achieved impressive metrics including 65 quarterback hits, 30 tackles for loss, and 28.5 sacks.

The 2024 season was set to be exceptional for Hutchinson, highlighted by his early performance of 17 quarterback hits and 7.5 sacks in just five games. However, a broken tibia and fibula from a Week 6 victory against the Dallas Cowboys sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
