Philadelphia Eagles Trade for Cornerback Jakorian Bennett

The Philadelphia Eagles have made a strategic move by acquiring cornerback Jakorian Bennett from the Las Vegas Raiders, as reported by Adam Schefter of Moneyline. In exchange, the Eagles sent defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV to the Raiders, reflecting both teams' efforts to bolster their respective rosters.
Jakorian Bennett has displayed notable potential during his time with the Raiders, starting 11 games over the past two seasons. With the Eagles, he is expected to vie for a starting position on the boundary, particularly opposite Quinyon Mitchell in a competitive secondary lineup that includes players such as Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo. Selected by the Raiders with a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Bennett had an impressive rookie campaign, where he made four starts, followed by an additional seven starts last season. His performance has highlighted his coverage abilities, evidenced by his recording of 26 tackles and eight passes defensed in 2024. According to Pro Football Focus, Bennett allowed a passer rating of only 62.4 when targeted last season, indicating his effectiveness in limiting opposing quarterbacks, while surrendering a mere 9.8 yards per reception.
On the other side of the deal, the Raiders will seek to enhance their interior defensive line with the addition of Thomas Booker IV. Booker, who played as a rotational defensive lineman for the Eagles in 2024, was originally drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He contributed in 10 games during his rookie season before spending the 2023 season on Philadelphia's practice squad. The 25-year-old Booker is expected to provide depth and skill to the Raiders’ defensive front following the release of defensive tackle Christian Wilkins on July 24. In his time with Philadelphia, he recorded 18 tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and one sack across 17 games in 2024, showcasing his capability to be an impactful player on the field.
