Philadelphia Eagles Acquire Cornerback Jakorian Bennett in Trade with Raiders

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the acquisition of cornerback Jakorian Bennett from the Las Vegas Raiders in a trade deal. According to reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles sent defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV to the Raiders in exchange for Bennett. This move comes as the Eagles look to bolster their secondary as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Jakorian Bennett has shown considerable promise during his time with the Raiders, starting a total of 11 games over the last two seasons. In 2024, Bennett recorded 26 tackles and eight passes defensed, showcasing his skills in coverage. Additionally, Pro Football Focus noted that when targeted last season, Bennett allowed an impressive passer rating of just 62.4, along with limiting opposing receivers to an average of only 9.8 yards per reception. His addition could create an interesting competition for a starting boundary position opposite Quinyon Mitchell, which also includes notable players like Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo.
On the other side of the trade, the Raiders will welcome Thomas Booker IV, who had been primarily utilized as a rotational defensive lineman with the Eagles. After being drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Booker appeared in 10 games as a rookie before spending the 2023 season on Philadelphia's practice squad. The Raiders hope that Booker's presence will strengthen their interior defensive line, particularly after the release of defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. Over 17 games with Philadelphia, Booker made 18 tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and one sack.
