Patrick Mahomes Prepares for AFC Divisional Round with Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has updated his Instagram profile picture to a striking image showcasing his three Super Bowl rings, signifying his team's ambition for a fourth Lombardi Trophy. This change comes as the Chiefs gear up to host the Houston Texans on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs.
The Chiefs have had an impressive season, concluding with a franchise-best regular season record of 15-2, which enabled them to earn the AFC's No. 1 seed. Although last season's record was also remarkable at 15-1, the team chose to rest their starters during the final game against the Denver Broncos. Their only defeat this season occurred against the No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills. Notably, Kansas City won 11 one-score games, many of which were decided in the final moments, demonstrating their resilience and competitive spirit throughout the year.
Patrick Mahomes concluded the regular season with 3,928 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, maintaining a completion rate of 67.5 percent. He also contributed significantly on the ground, rushing for 307 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Although his individual statistics may not have reached the impressive heights of previous years, Mahomes has effectively led the Chiefs to another commendable season, as they prepare for a rematch with the Texans, who previously lost to Kansas City 27-19 on December 21. The Texans advanced to this round following a dominant 32-12 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Wild Card round. A win for Kansas City would secure Mahomes and the Chiefs a spot in the AFC Championship Game, continuing their streak since he became the starting quarterback in 2018.
