NFL Players Cleared for Flag Football in 2028 Olympics, Mahomes Not Expected to Participate

NFL players are set to participate in flag football during its debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics. However, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is not expected to be among those players, as indicated by comments from Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com.
The NFL owners unanimously approved the inclusion of players in the Olympic event during their recent spring meetings held in Minneapolis, as reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Mahomes has previously expressed hesitation about joining Team USA's flag football squad, citing concerns about the potential risks associated with injuries while he continues his career with the Chiefs.
While Mahomes may not be in contention, there are other elite quarterbacks from the NFL who could represent Team USA. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, the reigning Super Bowl champion, has shown interest in participating, noting the honor it would be to compete for a gold medal. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow also expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, albeit with concerns over how it might align with training camp commitments.
