New York City Honors Knicks Players with Street Co-Naming

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced an initiative on Wednesday to co-name multiple streets in the city in honor of the current roster of the New York Knicks for the duration of the team's playoff run. Among the players recognized is star guard Jalen Brunson, with 7th Avenue and West 11th Street officially designated as Jalen Brunson Boulevard. This announcement precedes Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, during which the Knicks are set to host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.
As part of the ceremony, Mayor Adams expressed his regard for the Knicks, stating that the team embodies the spirit of New York—resilient, passionate, and unstoppable. He noted the significance of celebrating the hard work and determination that has propelled the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals after a challenging playoff journey. Adams emphasized that nearly 8.5 million New Yorkers, along with millions more, rally behind the Knicks as they embark on this exciting chapter.
The Knicks return to the playoffs for a third consecutive season, facing high expectations after previous second-round eliminations. Entering the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference with a regular season record of 51-31, the Knicks have navigated through tough matchups, defeating the Detroit Pistons in the first round and stunning the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics in six games during the second round. They are now poised to compete against the Pacers, a team that eliminated them in a memorable seven-game series last season. The upcoming ECF marks the Knicks' first appearance since 2000, a year in which they faced the Pacers in the playoffs. Should they advance beyond this round, the Knicks would secure a place in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
