Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has been hospitalized after a stabbing incident that occurred in Indianapolis on Saturday. As reported by Fox Sports, Sanchez is currently in stable condition and receiving care at a local hospital.
In an official statement, Fox Sports PR expressed gratitude towards the medical team for their exceptional care and emphasized the importance of respecting Sanchez and his family's privacy during this challenging time. "We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark," the statement read.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department provided details regarding the incident, confirming that it involved two adult males. One individual sustained injuries consistent with stab wounds, while the other suffered lacerations. Detectives have indicated that this was an isolated incident between the two men and not a random act of violence.
Sanchez, who is 38 years old, enjoyed a notable NFL career, spending four seasons with the New York Jets, followed by two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, and a season each with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders. Throughout his time in the league, he registered a total of 15,357 passing yards, 86 touchdowns, and 89 interceptions. After retiring from football, Sanchez transitioned into sports media and is currently recognized as a color commentator for NFL games, partnering with play-by-play announcer Adam Amin.
