LeBron James Becomes NBAs All-Time Leader in Regular-Season Minutes Played
LeBron James, the superstar of the Los Angeles Lakers, recently celebrated a significant milestone in his illustrious career by becoming the all-time leader in regular-season minutes played in the NBA. This achievement was commemorated through an Instagram post that paid tribute to the legendary Wilt Chamberlain, who famously scored 100 points in a single game against the New York Knicks in 1962, a record that still stands 61 years later.
As of now, LeBron James has accumulated a total of 57,471 minutes on the court, surpassing the previous record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who logged 57,446 minutes. LeBron, who is set to turn 40 on December 30, is currently in his 22nd season with the Lakers, averaging 22.6 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.9 rebounds per game. He is also averaging 35.0 minutes per game this season, reflecting his enduring productivity well into his third decade in the league.
In addition to this minutes played milestone, LeBron James holds the record for the most points scored in NBA history, surpassing 41,000 career points, making him the only player to achieve this feat. He currently ranks fifth in games played with 1,517, and with 55 games remaining in the Lakers' season, he has the potential to climb further up the list. As the team looks to build momentum, having won three of their last four games, their next challenge comes against the Sacramento Kings in an upcoming road match.
