Juan Soto Debuts New Look as Mets Eye Postseason Push Against Padres

Soto's Style Switch Ahead of Critical Matchup
New York Mets star Juan Soto turned heads with a fresh hairstyle as he arrived at Citi Field for Tuesday night's pivotal game against the San Diego Padres. The 24-year-old showcased cornrows in a video shared on Instagram, adding a stylish flair to his game day.
Game Day Preview: Padres vs. Mets
The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET in Queens, as the Padres aim to solidify their standing in the NL West, holding the second slot. They could clinch a postseason berth as early as Friday, according to MLB.com's AJ Cassavell.
The Mets, however, find themselves clinging to the final NL Wild Card spot, facing fierce competition from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants, who are all within two games of New York. The Mets recently endured an eight-game losing streak—their longest since 2018—before breaking the slump last Sunday with a dramatic walk-off home run from Pete Alonso against the Texas Rangers.
With only 12 games remaining in the regular season, including crucial back-to-back home series against the Padres and Washington Nationals, the Mets need to rally. Soto’s new look could serve as a catalyst for the team as they strive to secure their postseason future.
