Joel Embiids Injury Update and Its Impact on the 76ers
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is once again facing injury challenges, as he currently deals with increased swelling in his left knee. The team announced that Embiid will undergo re-evaluation in approximately seven to ten days following this latest development, which occurred after he experienced discomfort during an on-court workout.
Embiid's injury concerns have been a significant issue this season, as he previously missed six games due to a foot sprain. The 76ers confirmed that he has healed from that particular injury, but the resurgence of knee problems adds to what has already been a frustrating season for the center. Earlier in the season, Embiid missed multiple games for knee injury management, and after finally making his season debut, he faced a three-game suspension in November, which further complicated his return to form.
Thus far, Embiid has managed to play only 13 games this season, averaging 24.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and one block per game. Last season, he also faced challenges with injuries, playing just 39 games but showing significant prowess when available, averaging 34.7 points, 11 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.7 blocks. The 76ers have struggled in Embiid's absence, recording a dismal 15-24 record through the early months of the season. This poor start has made the pursuit of a playoff position increasingly difficult, particularly if Embiid is not able to return to the court soon.
