Giants Rookie RB Cam Skattebo Carted Off with Ankle Injury in Eagles Matchup

Injury Strikes Giants' Rookie Running Back Cam Skattebo
New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo faced a major setback on Sunday as he suffered a serious ankle injury during the second quarter of the team's battle against the Philadelphia Eagles. The injury occurred after Skattebo attempted to catch a pass that ultimately fell incomplete, leading him to fall awkwardly to the ground.
Following the incident, Skattebo was carted off the field and was soon ruled out for the remainder of the game. Before his unfortunate exit, the promising rookie had rushed for 12 yards on three carries and made a significant impact with an impressive 18-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.
Giants' Injury Woes Continue
The timing of Skattebo's injury is particularly challenging for the Giants, as they have already been grappling with a slew of injuries among their young talent. Second-year receiver Malik Nabers was previously ruled out for the season due to a torn ACL sustained in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Selected by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Skattebo was making strides in his inaugural NFL season. After starting the year as a depth piece, he seized the opportunity to enter the starting lineup in Week 4 due to an injury to fellow running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.. In his first several games as a starter, Skattebo showcased his ability to break tackles and gain extra yards, tallying 398 rushing yards and five touchdowns over the course of seven games. Additionally, he contributed to the team's passing game with 23 receptions for 189 yards and another score.
With Skattebo sidelined, the Giants are expected to rely on Tracy to reclaim his role as the starting running back moving forward.
