Eugenio Suarez Returns to Seattle in Trade from Arizona Diamondbacks

Eugenio Suarez, the Arizona Diamondbacks' third baseman, has been traded back to the Seattle Mariners, a team he previously played for. This trade, reported by Moneyline and confirmed by ESPN's Jeff Passan, comes amid a strong 2025 season for Suarez. Arizona initially acquired him in an offseason trade with the Mariners after the conclusion of the 2023 season.
In exchange for Suarez, the Diamondbacks received three top-20 prospects from Seattle's system, as noted by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. According to MLB.com, Tyler Locklear, rated as the No. 9 prospect, leads the return package. This move reflects both the Diamondbacks’ and Mariners' strategies as they look to strengthen their rosters for the remainder of the season.
Suarez has been a key contributor offensively, having hit 36 home runs and driven in 87 runs while maintaining a .248 batting average this season. He is a two-time All-Star and has set new benchmarks, including surpassing the 300 home run milestone and tying the record for hitting four home runs in a single game earlier this year. His power-hitting ability is expected to greatly benefit the Mariners, who currently hold a 57-51 record and are in pursuit of a playoff appearance alongside star catcher Cal Raleigh.
