In professional sports, teams typically find greater success at home than on the road. However, the Dallas Cowboys have defied this norm during the 2024 season, becoming the only men's American professional sports team yet to secure a win at home this year. While every other team in the NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, and NFL has achieved at least one home victory, the Cowboys have managed all four of their wins on the road since January.
The last time the Cowboys celebrated a home win was on December 30, 2023, against the Detroit Lions in what was their second-to-last game of the preceding season. At that time, the team boasted an impressive record of 11-5 and was preparing for the playoffs. Fast forward to the present, the Cowboys now find themselves struggling with a 3-7 record amidst a season that has not gone as planned. After starting the year with a 3-2 record, the team has faced five consecutive losses, the latest being a 34-10 defeat at the hands of the Houston Texans.
The loss of star quarterback Dak Prescott has further compounded the Cowboys' challenges. Prescott underwent season-ending surgery in November to address a hamstring injury, leaving the team to depend on backup quarterback Cooper Rush. Unfortunately for Dallas, Rush has struggled to generate offensive success in the past two games, as the Cowboys have only managed to score 16 points combined. Following a road matchup against the Washington Commanders, Dallas will have an opportunity to finally secure a home victory against the New York Giants in their final game of November, though external factors like sun glare and ongoing construction within AT&T Stadium could present additional challenges.
