Coby Mayo Celebrates Florida Panthers' Back-to-Back Cups with Custom Cleats

Baltimore Orioles' Coby Mayo Pays Tribute to Florida Panthers During MLB Players' Weekend
During this year's MLB Players' Weekend, Baltimore Orioles first baseman Coby Mayo turned heads with his unique tribute to the Florida Panthers. The rookie showcased custom cleats celebrating the Panthers' consecutive Stanley Cup victories in 2024 and 2025.
Mayo, a lifelong fan of the Panthers, explained his inspiration, saying, "So for Players' Weekend, my close friends and family know how much I love the Florida Panthers. Obviously winning back-to-back Stanley Cups, thought it would be a cool idea to get some custom Florida Panthers Stanley Cup cleats. Obviously my whole life I've been a huge fan and just think it would be kind of cool to represent a part of me that not everyone knows." His dedication to the team reflects his roots, having grown up in Coral Springs, Florida, close to the Panthers' home venue.
The Panthers have made headlines with a remarkable record of 131-70-10 over the past two years, including the playoffs. They gained their first Stanley Cup by defeating the Edmonton Oilers in five games and went on to claim another championship against the same team in the 2025 season, winning decisively in six games.
MLB Players' Weekend provides an exciting opportunity for players to express their individual styles, featuring personalized bats and cleats during regular-season games. For Mayo, who has recorded five home runs and 19 RBIs in 49 appearances this season, his tribute is not just about nostalgia; it also signifies an ongoing connection between sports and personal passion. With an improving performance, showcased by a .778 OPS over his past 20 games, Mayo is making a name for himself as he continues to grow in his rookie season.
