Cleveland Browns Unveil New Alternate Helmet

The Cleveland Browns have introduced their new alternate helmet, a development that was revealed through a video statement emphasizing a 'new look up top, molded by hardened toughness.' The unveiling has generated considerable anticipation, aided by a hype video and a partnership with The Pat McAfee Show leading up to the announcement. The all-brown alternate helmet, referred to as 'Alpha Dawg,' is designed to be worn with the team's all-brown jersey combination. This marks a significant moment in franchise history, as it will be the first time the Browns don a brown helmet.
The 'Alpha Dawg' helmet features a matte all-brown shell enhanced by two orange stripes and an all-brown facemask. Cleveland plans to wear this new helmet during three home games: September 21 against the Green Bay Packers, October 19 against the Miami Dolphins, and December 7 against the Tennessee Titans. This helmet joins the Browns' uniform lineup as the third option, pairing with their alternate white helmet under the NFL's expanded uniform policy, which permits the inclusion of a third helmet as long as it is paired with authorized uniforms.
As the Browns gear up for their upcoming season, questions linger regarding the quarterback position, particularly with Deshaun Watson sidelined due to injury. This has opened the door for a competitive four-way race among Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. The Browns made headlines by selecting two rookies in the middle rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, yet both will need to surpass Flacco, a seasoned veteran, to secure a starting role. Following a challenging 3-14 season, the individual who claims the starting job will inherit the immediate responsibility to help bring about a turnaround in the tough AFC North, starting with a challenging season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals and their star quarterback Joe Burrow, along with standout receiver Ja'Marr Chase, on September 7.
