Christian McCaffrey Tops Jersey Sales Amid Injury-Riddled Season
Christian McCaffrey experienced a challenging 2024 season marked by injuries, yet his popularity remained undeniable. On Tuesday, Lids unveiled the top-selling jerseys for the season, revealing that the San Francisco 49ers running back led the list. Despite appearing in only four games, McCaffrey's significant visibility during the campaign was highlighted by his placement on the cover of Madden NFL 25.
The jersey sales report also showcased other prominent players, with Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Micah Parsons, and Tyreek Hill rounding out the top five sellers. In total sales, McCaffrey's jerseys were the most popular, but it was Mahomes who achieved the distinction of having the best-selling jersey across the most states, with a total of 13. Last year, Hurts had topped the charts in 13 states but saw a decrease this season, leading in only four states.
While Mahomes and Hurts made strides in jersey sales leading up to the Super Bowl, their respective teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, could not surpass the 49ers as the top-selling team for merchandise. However, the Eagles could take pride in outselling the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pennsylvania and the New York Giants and New York Jets in New Jersey. With the opportunity to boost jersey sales further, the Eagles will look to capitalize on the excitement from their upcoming Super Bowl match against Mahomes and the Chiefs, potentially leading to increased sales of player jerseys should they secure a victory. A Super Bowl title would mark Philadelphia's first since the 2017 season, and the star power on their roster, which includes Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith, suggests that there could be substantial jersey sales ahead.
