Ward's Promising Preseason Performance
Cam Ward's final preseason start provided Tennessee Titans fans with a glimpse of the talent that led him to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. In a brief yet impactful appearance on Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings, Ward showcased his potential, completing 3 of 4 passes for 36 yards across two possessions.
The rookie quarterback took the field in the first quarter, contributing to the Titans' early lead of 7-3 before being substituted. During his time on the field, the team relied significantly on its rushing attack, with Julius Chestnut leading the way with five carries for 28 yards and a touchdown, while Kalel Mullings added another five carries for 18 yards.
Building Momentum Ahead of the Regular Season
Prior to Friday's game, Ward had accumulated 109 passing yards throughout the preseason, with a completion percentage of 46.7%. Despite limited opportunities, his performance sparked excitement among fans on social media as they look ahead to his regular-season debut.
Despite the Titans' cautious approach to Ward's playing time, the quarterback expressed the importance of preseason games for building momentum. “It's real important, in terms of us playing at a high level and making drives count,” Ward stated. “Having excitement on the sideline, getting guys touches on the field, and at the end of the day, playing together is crucial.”
With the Titans set to face off against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos in their season opener on September 7, fans are eager to see how Ward's preseason experience translates to the regular season.
